Philly Fashion Week’s upcycling design competition to highlight and celebrate innovative, zero-waste design:
Five Universities located in Philadelphia were asked to nominate 2 students to compete, creating one look each using fashion industry waste provided by FABSCRAP
Competiton Rules:
1. Each designer had two weeks from the day their fabric was picked up to design, fit, and create a full look
2. Take only what you need (waste was accounted for in the judging process)
3. Each look must incorporate and transform at least one mendable garment in the making of it

Each patch and draped skirt layer is stay stitched and individually distressed by hand on every edge to create a controlled fray. I worked to highlight the array of different sizes, colors, textures, and patterns working together to create this shape.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to compete and create a unique look that was awarded first place!
